Step Three: Your Perfect Day

paul November 2, 2021

This Perfect Day Questions exercise is a preparation exercise to get you in the right frame of mind and start forming your vision.

Before starting, make sure you are well rested, not hungry and that potential distractions are eliminated.

The purpose behind this is for you to be able to envision a future state which can motivate you to work towards, which you write down, and which then becomes an orienting point in your life to navigate with and to prioritise your goals and projects.

Of course your “perfect day” will change and evolve over time, but as you revisit it, you will find that you will refine it and it will become a stronger compass for your future. You want your vision of your future to be something compelling, something that evokes some emotion in you, otherwise it will not be enough to motivate you long term.

Answer the following questions in present tense, Ie it should read, “I live in a…” instead of “I want to live in… “ or “I will live in…” .

Use a flowing script style of writing instead of bullet points, so allow the ideas to just flow from your mind onto the paper. You can write for yourself only as no one else will see this unless you choose to show it to them.

The questions:

  • Where do you live?
  • What do your house look like?
  • What does it smell like?
  • What time in the morning do you wake up?
  • What are the first sounds you hear when you wake up
  • What do you do in the morning?
  • What do you think about in the morning?
